Art therapy involves the use of creative expression to explore thoughts, emotions, identity, and connectedness. Art therapy also offers an opportunity to practice social skills or to strengthen family relationships. Examples of creative expressions might include theatre (role-playing), music, photography, and various fine arts. No artistic or creative experience is necessary, and anyone can benefit from art therapy.
Anne-Drea's own experience with art expression began in 2001 as an operator of a licensed daycare, when she saw how children became more engaged, more relaxed, and less confrontational, with a crayon or paintbrush in their hands. While busy 'creating,' social skills seemed at their best.
